Ijen Volcano Night Hike

Experience the adventure of a lifetime with a night hike to the summit of Ijen volcano, one of the wonders of Java. Travellers from all around the globe come to witness its mesmerizing blue flames, a natural phenomenon inside the crater, and its magnificent scenery offering a glimpse of heaven on earth. This is also a great spot for a sunrise view, overlooking the silhouette of the valleys and crater.

Itinerary :

  • 12.30 – Wake-up call, ready for the journey to Ijen.
  • 01.00 – Travel by jeep to the base of the mountain (about one hour).
  • 02.00 – Arrive at the entrance gate and prepare to hike.
  • 03.30 – Reach the volcano's rim after hiking for around 1.5 hours. From this point, you will be able to see one of the biggest sulphur lakes in the world.
  • 04.30 – Reach the top of Ijen to capture the sunrise and explore the mountain
  • 07.00 – Return to the parking area and travel back to the hotel.
  • 08.30 – Arrive back at the hotel.

Recommendations :

For your comfort, please wear trekking shoes and attire suitable for hiking. Do bring a sweater or jacket as the temperature may reach as low as 5 degrees Celsius. Put on the mask at all times as the strong sulphur smell may cause discomfort.

Entrance ticket for international guests : IDR 100,000 (weekday) / IDR 150,000 (weekend)
Tickets purchased to enter Mount Ijen are non-refundable and do not cover insurance.

Please note that the occurrence of blue fire at Ijen Crater is a natural phenomenon. Its visibility may be affected by weather conditions and other factors beyond our control. 

Ijen Crater is closed every first Friday of the month. Kindly refrain from making plans for that day.

The guest should be physically healthy and free from heart conditions or asthma. A doctor-validated health certificate, obtained at least 24 hours before the hike, is mandatory.

The guest should consider obtaining comprehensive travel insurance for this trekking, covering medical emergencies and evacuation needs.
