“Alas Purwo“ means “ancient forest“ in Javanese. The national park is not only well known for its wildlife and a great surfing spot called G-Land but also for traditional Javanese mysticism; followers believe that this jungle has been a holy place and a safe haven for spirits, ghosts and supernatural life for thousands of years.
